WHITE CITY HOARDINGS

Client: Imperial College London

The brief was to come up with a design to be applied to the hoardings on the south site of White City Campus. The existing hoardings are currently painted black and we were asked to develop graphics to improve and enhance the campus environment.

The hoardings will be approximately 480 metres long and potentially change during the building phases. The design has therefore been created to be modular and have repeating elements. This allows for flexibility and for the panels to be easily moved as the work progresses.

I came up with four different concept routes, you can see my initial sketches/ideas below. The client chose the route that was based around scientific themes. I wanted this option to be in a 3D style so we commissioned Kyle Bean who specialises in handcrafted design and imagery and creates models out of paper and craft materials.

The hoardings were installed July 2023.

Hoardings artwork plan

I planned out the order of the artwork for the hoardings and resized some of the artwork to fit on the bespoke sized panel – I then supplied this plan to the installers.
